I have always tried to draw and paint but somehow life got in the way. I am now retired and have time to indulge my passion for creating art.
Over the last couple of years I have realised that I like drawing people. People working, playing or just walking along the street. People in cafes and parks, formal portraits and nude studies, as long as there are people to draw I am happy.
I am proud to have been appointed the artist in residence to the Lord Lieutenant of Dorset. I attend civic ceremonies and community events where I record the day doing real time sketches in pen and watercolour. I also offer workshops to local schools and youth groups to help young people explore their creativity and prove that anyone can create.
I belong to two art societies, Broadstone Art Society and Poole and East Dorset Art Society. I also go out with the Bournemouth and Poole urban sketchers who are part of the global urban sketchers movement.
For the last two years I have led workshops in the fringe tent at the New Forest Folk Festival demonstrating to festival goers how they can easily create a visual record of their experiences while listening to great music. I am pleased by the feedback I have received and the sketches festival goers have shared with me following the workshops.
I also offer workshops to local art societies and craft groups showing other creatives how they can add figures to their repertoire. Contact me for details.
