I think I put the wrong date on yesterday’s post! I have managed to post something every day for a month with today’s picture, I will try to keep it going but I suspect ther will be blank days. Today is a red head with pink cheeks. I ran of time to add the freckles.
only time for a quick charcoal sketch today as we are out this evening. I did it at work and kept getting interrupted by customers!
I thought I ought to play with some flesh tones to see what works and what doesn’t. I now know what doesn’t work but I don’t seem to have discovered what does. Never mind, keep trying.
A watercolour portrait of Cossette from the BBC adaptation of Les Mis as played by Ellie Bamber. I am afraid I messed up the shadows on her face by using too much blue in the wash.
I tried an experiment today by drawing a portrait with inktense pencils then spraying it with water and letting it do its own thing. Interesting result but not as colourful as I expected so I did another using more traditional watercolours.
First day of the portrait drawing course at the Arts University in Bournemouth. The new studio space is amazing with brilliant light. This morning we used graphite, this afternoon coloured pencil.

Ginny bought me some intense pencils for Christmas so I thought I would try them out. I only did a very quick drawing and it isn’t very accurate but I am pleased with the pencils.
No time for drawing today so here is an extra one from Monday. Pencil with a touch of colour.
Another watercolour portrait tonight but I overworked it. I also tried some sprinkle stuff on the background, Gill bought it for me but I didn’ Expect it to go off like a firework! I must learn to stop a little earlier!
