Here is another sketch from yesterday’s outing with the urban sketchers. This was quite a complex scene but it’s good to have a challenge.

I had my first outing with the Poole and Bournemouth urban sketchers this morning. We met at the Russel Coates museum in Bournemouth. It was raining but I found a small grotto with a view of this lovely building.
I went to a life drawing session with Broadstone Arts Society today. Our model was Lilly who did a brilliant job with some very challenging poses. This is my best effort out of about a dozen drawings, I think this was a five minute pose.
Another sketch from our trip to London Zoo on Wednesday, I did add some colour afterwards but the pen work was done on site. We were stood downwind of the camels so we got the full camel experience!
Another sketch from yesterday trip to London Zoo. Giraffes are amazing animals and theses two posed beautifully until I was about half way through drawing them, then they wouldn’t keep still.
I had a trip to London zoo today so managed to do some sketching. Feeding time at the penguin pool was a bit hectic but once it was over they all calmed down and I was able to draw one of them. This is a Humboldt penguin.
I was playing with some pastels this morning and got a bit carried away. It’s a bit more colourful than I anticipated!
I tried a watercolour portrait of Lisa from a photo I took back in the summer, I loved the way the light hit her hair and turned it red and gold.
We were at a craft fare this afternoon, I only sold one small painting but ai had a couple of enquiries for commissions to paint dogs so it may have been worthwhile after all. I did this sketch while people were moving around the fare so they may be a bit mixed up!
At the National Portrait Gallery Gill is looking at the self portrait and nude by Laura Knight 1913. Apparently it was very controversial for a female to paint a nude life model in 1913. Thank goodness we don’t think like that any more, or do we?
