I took the dogs for a long walk around our new home in Corfe Mullen yesterday. We are close to the edge of town so it’s only a short step into the countywide. Most of the immediate area seems to be equestrian properties and most fields are divided into paddocks. I didn’t stop to sketch but took some photos and di this quick sketch this morning.
I am starting an on line course with Sketchy painting 30 portraits in 30 days starting on March 1. I thought I had better do some practice so this is from the Sketchy website where they share inspirational photos to work from.
Last Tuesday the removal crew were loading the first van so I managed to get away for an hour with the dogs for a walk along the beach. The light was super so I took some photos and finally got around to do a quick watercolour this morning.
This is our new home but at the moment it’s obscured by cars. Ginny’s car will go in the garage but at the moment it’s full of boxes. The motorhome will park the other side of the house once I get around to unloading it which I can’t do until we unpack a few more boxes.
We have been so busy moving house this week that I haven’t had time to draw or paint but I managed to squeeze in a quick sketch this morning. Our removal crew were very experienced and didn’t need my help to move the piano so I took some photos instead so I sketch them later.
I only had time for a quick watercolour portrait this morning and I didn’t really finish it, however it was fun to do and all good practice although she does look a little sinister.
We watched La La Land last night, I am not sure how it managed to win so many awards but it was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. I had a go at one of the dance scenes with the lights of LA in the background.
Figuary day 12. Today’s poses were all about foreshortening which is notoriously difficult to draw. The brain refuses to accept that sometimes the head can look bigger than the body or a knee cap is larger than a shoulder so you have to switch off the part of the brain that names things and just draw shapes, difficult to do within the allotted times!
Day 11 of figuary and I struggled with proportions today which is why there are some small legs and long bodies!
The second photo from Purely watercolour was a pleasure to paint, I changed a few details but kept the essentials. As it is coming up to Valentine’s Day I let them hold hands!
