When the dogs wake me up at 7 o’clock on a day when I don’t have to work it makes sense to take them for a walk and then spend an hour drawing before breakfast. I think my mind is at its best first thing in the morning so drawings seem to be more accurate. Pastel pencil this morning.
Month: April 2019
19 April
Watercolour again today, a touch of line and wash for Nuala and Fletcher.
18 April
Grandson Emmet wanted another Paw Patrol character, this time it was Cali
I don’t know all of the Paw Patrol like a three year old does but Google is ever helpful!
17 April
Out tonight so only had time for a quick watercolour sketch in the office. This is Fletcher.
16 April
A bit of a disaster tonight. I thought I would paint Ziggi again using a wetter technique but it went wrong from the start. I put one eye in the wrong place and I couldn’t get the paint to flow properly so I ended up overworking it again. Also I am not happy with the paper I am using. I t is very old Saunders watercolour paper that I must have had for 20 years, it just sucks the water up and doesn’t let the paint move..

Ziggi is a Finish Laphund owned by my son and daughter in law. He is a very handsome boy but not easy to paint!
14 April
A change from Labradors today, this is Willow our little collie who passed away in January at the age of 16 and a quarter. I had a bit of trouble with her eyes but I think I rescued it in the end.
13 April
I tried to paint two dogs today but I couldn’t seem to keep it as loose as yesterday’s effort. This is Nuala and Fletcher our two fox red labradors.
12 April
I used more water today and forced myself to stop before I got bogged down with details. This is our other Labrador Fletcher.
11 April
I love painting on this 300gms water colour paper but I haven’t learnt when to stop!
I seem to have overworked it again.
