I visited Bristol yesterday on a coach trip organised by Bournemouth Arts Society. We visited the West of England Academy open exhibition which many of us thought equal to if not better than the Royal Academy summer exhibition for the quality and variety of work on display. I walked sown to the quay and did a quick sketch of the bronze statue of John Cabot the 15th century Italian explorer who discovered Newfoundland.
