I had a great day at the Chalk valley history festival in Wiltshire today. I had some wonderful conversations with people who were passionate about their chosen period, from the owner of a WW2 gun limber to a member of the Wimborne Militia who showed me the process for firing a wheellock pistol which doesn’t use priming powder so can be fired from horseback. I managed a few quick sketches and would have done more but it was far too hot to sit in the sun for very long.
