28 June

A sad day today as we said goodbye to Malcolm. He was a lovely man who gave so much time teaching people to enjoy the water in safety. I knew him both through work, he looked after the clothing for RLSS Poole Lifeguards, Poole Harbour Canoe Club and the Dorset Police male voice choir. He was kind enough to come to our company for all of these and I got to know him well over the last 10 years. I also knew him when I was in the Coastguard and afterwards helping at swimming events in the harbour. At his funeral today the chapel was full and many of us stood outside the doors following as best we could. He will be missed by many.

This is how I remember him, ready to provide safety cover in his kayak and with a big smile.
