11 April

When I worked at the NationalMaritime museum in Greenwich nearly 50 years agoI was fascinated by Lord Nelson. His uniform was on display at the time, it was so small it looked like it was made for a child but men were generally smaller 200 years ago. I have just read his biography so this is a quick sketch of 2nd lieutenant Nelson boarding an American privateer in a gale. I used several contemporary sketches as reference but mostly made it upas I went along!

    Hi Charlotte
I looked after the lecture theatre and recording studio for a couple of years, it wasn’t very busy so I spent a lot of time in the photographic department learning to print.

This is a lively sketch! How fascinating that you worked at the National Maritime museum in Greenwich. You have inspired me to visit once it reopens.
    Best Wishes, Charlotte
